If you have been a follower of my other blog, rizsedek.com, you would know that I came to Czech Republic for love. Now after seeing that relationship fall apart, I began to question the purpose of my being here, and the work I do particularly this magazine. Why am I here? Why have I been put here, of all places (English-speaking places that would be easier for me to get by). I could leave, after all the reason holding me here was gone. But somehow I felt compelled to stay, as if there was another reason I hadn't yet known, and it has been so made, consciously or not, that I will continue staying here for at least another year.
Well, while I wouldn't want to get into all the philosophical details of my thoughts here on this blog (I will perhaps on my other blog), what I felt about being here though, is that I love it here. I love the peacefulness, the slow-paced life, the good-natured people, the accessible nature. And I have begun to feel more like home.
While browsing through these shops today, most of them are in Prague, some are in other areas of Czech Republic, I thought to myself and said, "Yes, I do want to stay."
And so, where Styl is concerned, there will be a slight change in the way I present things. The first, and you would have probably noticed, is to write authentically. Authenticity would be my guide, as I journey through my craft and my work.
Meet Nina van de Goor from the Netherlands, where she sells vintage redecorated ceramics, screenprints, collages, postcards and prints in her Etsy shop Ninainvorm. She has a love for bright colors which you'll notice instantly when visiting her shop! She's inspired by the vintage styles from the 1950s and 1960s and the beauty of vintage ceramics is a continuous source of inspiration and creativity. She really likes screenprinting (it's the technique she uses for
redecorating ceramics as well) and she hopes to come up with some new
screenprinted items, like textiles. She loves to mix old and new and keeps being surprised by the results of that!
If nature has style, it would make leaves in sweet colors such as these...
Jane Joss is actually an alias for Alyssa and Joslyn Krismer. Sisters-in-law (married to twins!) with a love of interior design and crafting.
